Introduction
Imago provides a variety of import and export options. Imago Connect + Tools can be used to export images from the Imago Portal. This article explains and demonstrates how this can be easily achieved.
Exporting Images from the Imago Portal is achieved by selecting the Export Images task in the left panel. The broad steps are:
- Configure the export settings, such as defining images to be exported and the export location on the local drive.
- Respond to additional settings such as format conventions for folders and exported images
- Optionally Save all settings so that they may be reused
- Start the export (Download).
Example
Let's run through an example.
A specific Workspace, Dataset, Collection and Imagery Type has been selected and the Export Location has been provided.

The Export Images task includes a smart saving algorithm which will only downloads images which do not already exist in the destination folder. Enter the * symbol to take advantage of this (see screenshot in the Introduction). |
![]() |
The collection drop-down is a list of the current collections located in a specific dataset. However, it is possible to fill the field with anything using matching terms. i.e. you can enter "AADD0*" and it will download AADD0141, AADD0142, AADD0143, etc. |
Days Since Updated
When checked, enter a positive number. The task will only export x days back. For example, entering a 7 will inform the task that it is to only export images updated in the last 7 days.
Generate Export List
Generates a CSV file containing a list of exported images in the format. Uses the format convention defined below. Exporting a file list is useful for two reasons:
- It provides a summary of all images exported
- The file is in the same format as required by the Upload Images Task.
Here is an example:
Use Custom Directory Format
Select to nominate a naming convention for creating folders. If not selected, the convention used is shown greyed out. Note. You will need to type in your required format.

Load and Save Defaults
I common with other tasks, it is possible to save and load defaults. This is recommended.
![]() |
If you forget to Save the last settings, next time you run the Export, and you wish to repeat using last used settings, click Load Defaults. You will be able to load the the last used settings. |
Download
Click Download to start the export process. Depending on the number of images, this may take a few minutes. Progress is indicated.
