URL's are a simple and recognised way to link your images to your third party applications.
Many third party application allow URL links to be launched within their applications. For example, in Leapfrog you can select an interval in the scene view and have a URL associated to that particular interval selection display the relevant image.
Imago offers an open Application Programming Interface (API) that will allow you to link your imagery in a dynamic way.
The link is created dynamically using a formula. For example, in Excel a link is constructed by concatenating HoleID and From fields of a interval table such as this below:

This creates a URL link to the image corresponding to HoleID "SI-17-72". Imago selects the best image to link based on the order defined for the Imagery and Image Type. The top one in the list is opened first. If the image is not available, Imago will move to the next url and so on. The list can be prioritised by dragging and dropping up or down:
